Family Office & Africa Alternatives

New York City, Thursday, 20 September 2018

Event registration

The FOAA series is designed to “bridge the gap” for the global family office group accessing Africa’s private investment markets. Given its comparatively limited resources the subgroup struggles to effectively assess risk, identify investment partners, and access credible deal flows.

Understanding the risk associated with investing in African private markets requires a contextual understanding of the market(s) being evaluated, and more specifically, the firm(s) and opportunities being considered. This is a process that requires sustained consistency over a period of time. As such, new investors venturing into Africa’s private markets will do well to first establish partnerships with firms that are effectively and successfully trading the continent’s alternative assets before making direct investments. Above stated partnerships could take several forms including, but not limited to co-investments, LP participation in private-equity & asset-class funds, or dedicated structured products.

Beyond the economic and markets analyses that will be presented at the Family Office and Africa Alternatives, Family Office attendees will gain a trial-period access to our proprietary platform, Business and Economic Development System (BEDS). The platform was created to grant visibility to potential partners, structured products, direct- placement opportunities and market insights.

The Family Offices and Africa Alternatives (FOAA) is designed for family offices and private capital owners seeking risk-adjusted returns in Africa’s private markets. This New York intensive is the first installment in the series that will visit London, Zurich and Singapore in its first round.

A PARTNERSHIP APPROACH

The ‘Family Office & Africa Alternative’ series is designed to give family offices first-hand insight into investing in Africa Alternatives. It is also introducing a technology platform that delivers continued access to African business and economic news, data, and information as well as structured AAI products that have been tailored to meet Family Office needs.

Driven by knowledge sharing, the series brings managers, LP/GPs, and African business executives to engage in conversation with family offices and to share their insights, investment strategies, and innovative structures and products to meet the unique needs of family office investors.
